Mangrove-based ecotourism development is a key element of SLYCAN Trust's activities in Kalpitiya, Puttalam district. In close collaboration with government entities such as the Coast Conservation Department, Marine Environment Protection Authority, and Navy, local private sector partners such as Kitesurfing Lanka, and other local stakeholders, we push toward turning the area into a hotspot for mangrove-based ecotourism that will benefit the community as well as visitors. We are working together to identify the best waste management activities that build on pre-existing infrastructure and work with hotels and the

municipal council to scope the potential for waste management planning in the area and set up a community-run nursery.
